Chilli: “R. Kelly Was Muted Years Ago When He Married A Child!”

Chilli has made it very clear she is not a supporter of R. Kelly.

She hasn’t only just cancelled R. Kelly because of the recent Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly, which documented the historic and recent sexual abuse his victims endured.

Chilli has had Kelly on the block list for over 20 years, back when he illegally married an underaged singer, the late Aaliyah, whilst she was only 15 years old.

Speaking to TMZ this week in Atlanta, she said: “It didn’t take me to see a documentary to know the truth. I mean, he was cancelled years ago in my book after marrying a 15-year-old child.”

Regarding Kelly’s denial over the sex cult allegations, she said: “And then on top of that, I saw the tape at the studio with a whole bunch of other people, and I was just like, ‘He’s going to jail.’ I saw it, I was like, ‘He’s going to jail.’ And then when I heard he denied it I was like ‘What!’

“How can you deny that?” she said before mentioning TLC’s biggest hit. “That’s like me saying that’s not me on the swing in the ‘No Scrubs‘ video!”

Chilli’s feelings towards R. Kelly come as no surprise to TLC fans. Back in 2003, whilst Chilli and T-Boz were guest hosting a video countdown show, 106 & Park on BET, Chilli pretended to be asleep during the airing of R. Kelly’s ‘Ignition‘ remix video as a form of protest against him.

“When you’re young, that frontal lobe hasn’t closed up yet. So, your reasoning and all that kind of stuff, it’s not there, it’s not developed”, Chilli continues. “But the person older than you, should know better.”

And she doesn’t feel like the parents should take all the heat away from the main perpetrator. “People are like, ‘it’s the parents, it’s the parents’… it’s them as well. It’s not just one person, but it’s definitely the monsters, for sure.”

As well as hoping to collab with Weezer in the future, following their ‘No Scrubs’ cover which went viral, Chilli also mentions that she has a major tour announcement coming soon, so stay tuned!

Our thoughts are completely with our girl T-Boz right now!

The TLC superstar, who also suffers with the long-term condition of sickle cell anemia, is suffering with the flu at the moment, and as a result she will be unable to fulfil the scheduled TLC shows for Hard Rock this weekend.

However, ticket holders for these shows at Hard Rock Live Orlando on January 25 and Hard Rock Casino Biloxi on January 26 will be able to keep their tickets for the new dates on June 28 & 29.

In a statement, T-Boz said: “We are truly sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused but we need to reschedule this date. Flu season has hit home and my doctors have instructed me that I cannot travel, but I look forward to seeing y’all in June!”

Reigndrop Lopes Plans Left Eye Biopic and New Music!

The prayers of many fans of the ‘L’ of TLC may have finally been answered, after years and years of hoping. The world could soon be blessed with some brand new music by the late and great Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes – according to her sister, Reigndrop Lopes.

If the prospect of new Left Eye music isn’t enough to keep you on cloud nine, Reigndrop also revealed that she has been steadily working on a Lisa Lopes biopic for the last 3 to 4 years, and plans to take as long as is required to ensure the project is done right to do her sister justice.

Speaking as a guest in Atlanta at The Conversation Corner for The Status Network with author Andrew Snorton, Reigndrop opened up about her own personal projects as well as the upcoming projects for Lisa.

Maintaining Left Eye’s Legacy

“I always wanted to continue my sister’s legacy in a positive way, so everything I do I try to make it positive for the young people coming up, specifically females, because I’m a female so I can relate to them more. I know how it was coming up, being bullied and not being like everybody else. So, I made sure I put that into everything I’m doing, whether it’s the acting, or the music or writing a book”.

Health Coaching

“I write plans for people and I also cook for people. Some people will hire me and I’ll come in and cook for them. I’m also still working on a healthy kids cooking show”.

Lisa Lopes Biopic

“It’s taking me years, but I’m going to take as long as it takes to get it done right! I’ve been working on this about 3 to 4 years now. So I pretty much want to get people who care about the story. I don’t just want someone who has a name in the industry or they have a background in making films. I want them to be in it for personal reasons.”

Overcoming frustrations making the movie

“I wanted to give up on making this movie so many times, because I don’t know anything about making a movie. But I know for a fact that I can do it, I just need the right people in place to guide me, and do the things they’re good at, and I stick to what I’m good at. I’m really good at having a vision, so the first person I met with was Rob Hardy, and he told me, if you want the movie to go a certain way you should get the script done first. So, I’m looking for a great scriptwriter. I’ve met with a few already but I haven’t found that perfect person”.

Reigndrop Lopes has a holiday single, “The Holidays Are Coming”, available on her website, where you can also purchase official Left Eye merchandise at ReigndropMusic.net
