TLC were set to close this year’s Australian Open Live Stage outdoor music events at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on January 28.
Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties behind their control and scorching temperatures above 40°C (100F), the venue had no option but to cancel the performance.
Maintenance worked tirelessly for over 2 hours to rectify the problem shortly after 6PM, which were the computers overheating and malfunctioning, but the issue could not be resolved in time, so fans were offered full refunds and apologies.
A spokesperson announced on the stage “we have had a full computer meltdown tonight and unfortunately TLC cannot sing because they can’t sing without their computers, but we will issue full refunds for everyone here.”
T-Boz took to social media to offer her sympathy. “I’m soooooo sorry it was out of our control“, she tweeted. “We’re trying to figure something out to make [it] up to you“.
Chilli also echoed a similar sentiment. “Omg we are so sorry… we were dressed and everything but it was out of our hands. Like she said we’re trying to figure our how to make it up somehow.”
Chilli touched on how hot the day was and stated how dangerous that level of heat can be.
