Today marks the official 25th anniversary of TLC!
The ladies dropped their debut single “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg”, produced by Dallas Austin, on November 22, 1991, on LaFace Records and the rest, as they say, is history!

From the moment TLC refused to back down from speaking their minds to promote positive messages to young people across the world in a way that captured everyone’s attention creatively, it was clear TLC was here to stay!
TLC even turned down a performance on In Living Color, a hugely popular entertainment show at the time, because they refused to tone down their image for the shows producers. TLC always stuck with their principles, no matter what!
“People thought we were just a fad and that we were probably not gonna it, and that we’re just a bunch of kids in colorful clothes“, T-Boz said about the medias perception of them when they just came onto the scene. “Everyone thought we were 16 or 17, shoot, younger than that“, Left Eye explains, “but when we first came out we were 21, 22 years old, we just had baby faces“.

The intro on 1992’s “Ooooooohhh… On The TLC Tip” summed up what the critics people were saying about them, “they look pretty cool, but I don’t know about the whole attitude and dressing in baggy clothes, its kinda lame you know, its just a fad I think”, but the girls were set to prove the world wrong – and they sure did in the most explosive way, selling millions in the process to cement themselves as the biggest selling female trio of all time!
