That Time T-Boz Played as Pam Grier a Reverse Stripper in the 2014 Animated ‘Black Dynamite’ Series

The year was 2009 when the blaxploitation 1970’s classic ‘Black Dynamite‘ was given a reboot on the big screen. That was when Cartoon Network‘s adult animated division Adult Swim decided to create an animated spin off series, based on storylines from the updated movie.

The original pilot episode of the animated series, executively produced by Carl Jones (‘The Boondocks‘), debuted in 2011. The series wasn’t released in full until 2012, lasting 2 seasons and airing 20 episodes in total.

T-Boz was no stranger to the world of animation. She had announced in 1999 that she was working on developing a cartoon with the Jim Henson Company, titled ‘It’s A Fly World’, although it never came to fruition.

She had also provided voice-over work for André 3000‘s Cartoon Network series ‘Class of 3000. “I did the voice, but they ended up going with someone else because I couldn’t get my voice to sound younger,” T-Boz told Billboard.

T-Boz was then hired by the Adult Swim company to play a guest role as Pam Grier on the second season of ‘Black Dynamite’. During this episode, Pam Grier is kidnapped along with some other top Blaxploitation actors, such as Rudy Ray Moore, and Jim Kelly, by the notorious Bill Cosby, who wants to transform actors into dignified representations of the black race.

“I was the reverse stripper,” T-Boz explained. “It was funny because I was supposed to be sexy, but I started off naked and put my clothes on.” While Bill Cosby is on his mission to force the changes, Black Dynamite, who is voiced by the original actor Michael Jai White, saves the day.

T-Boz later supplied her voice-over talents as a favor to The Asylum’s 2016 movie, ‘Trolland‘, where she played the character Jarvik. Ja Rule and Dick Van Dyke also star.

We hope to see T-Boz in more voice-over roles in the future, as well as acting roles! She starred in ‘After Masks‘ earlier this year.

TLC Officially Postpone ‘Celebration of CrazySexyCool’ tour to allow T-Boz to Recover from Viral Infection

After the cancellation of select shows earlier this month, T-Boz this week has confirmed that the remaining dates of the Celebration of CrazySexyCool’ tour will also be rescheduled at a later date in 2022, to allow her to continue her viral infection recovery.

T-Boz took to her Instagram on Oct 19 to make the announcement to her loyal fans, who were hoping to see TLC in action on Oct 21, 26 and 30.

“Hey Guys Thx 4 All The Prayers And Love!!! I Hate 2 Say… But…. We had to announce we are rescheduling the 3 remaining dates on the ‘2021 Celebration of Crazy Sexy Cool’ tour to allow me to fully recover from a viral infection”, T-Boz said in her statement.

“We hate to disappoint our fans in Tampa, FL  Auburn, WA and Worley ID; but considering our rigorous tour schedule, doctors have advised me to take the necessary time off for my body to heal”, T-Boz explained. “We look forward to rescheduling these dates in 2022 to give fans our signature TLC experience”.

TLC Cancel Remaining Dates on ‘Celebration of CrazySexyCool’ tour

It is with great sadness to reveal that TLC have had to cancel the remaining handful of dates on the ‘Celebration of CrazySexyCool‘ tour this year, so that T-Boz is given the adequate time to heal and recover from a viral infection she had developed whilst on the road.

Last week we reported that TLC had postponed and successfully rescheduled two of their tour dates in Texas. Unfortunately, the reshuffling of those dates meant that there were too many dates to perform at back-to-back.

T-Boz requires tour dates to be strategically spaced out in order to get the right amount of rest between shows, to prevent any complications with her Sickle Cell Anemia.

Although the girls had every intention to continue the tour, Chilli announced on Oct 7 that they were unable to perform in San Diego that night, as T-Boz suffered “a relapse in recovery from a recent viral infection”, Chilli said in a statement on her socials.

However, tonight on Oct 8 the girls announced the cancellation of the remaining two dates in LA on the tour. “T-Boz is currently recovering from a viral infection, but unable to perform this weekend”, TLC said in a statement. “While we hate to disappoint TLC fans, the collective health of our team takes precedence”.

The statement goes on to thank the dedicated fans for the “outpouring of love we’ve received since the tour began, and can’t wait to get back on the road to see fans next year”.

TLC have been having a blast on this tour, receiving rave reviews from critics and surprising fans with performances of songs they have never performed before, and keeping the shows fresh with a set of new dancers, remixes and the inclusion of the funky DJ Dubz, who keeps the party moving.

The second leg of the tour will continue in 2022, including rescheduling previously cancelled dates that have been affected this year.

We wish T-Boz a safe and healthy recovery. Take all the time you need to feel better. You have all our love, understanding and support, Now & Forever!

UPDATE: The two dates still happening are:

OCT 21
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa
Tampa, FL

OCT 26
Muckleshoot Casino Resort
Auburn, WA
