VH1 ‘Girls Cruise’ with Chilli, Lil’ Kim & Mýa Premieres in July

VH1 have finally set the date when the upcoming reality television show, ‘Girls Cruise‘, (formerly rumoured to be titled ‘Girls Crew’), will premiere on the network! It is set to air on July 15, 2019!

Executive produced by and starring hip-hop legend Lil’ Kim, the series will also star our very own Chilli and the R&B singer, Mýa. Other stars to feature in the series include Wild N’ Out stars Pretty Vee and B. Simone, and their long-time best friends Tiffany Panhilason and Char Defranseco.

According to the official press release, in ‘Girls Cruise’, Lil’ Kim and her celebrity friends embark on a vacation of a lifetime in the series described as one of self-exploration and sisterhood.

Per the official synopsis: “As they travel through the Caribbean, the crew hits the high seas on an epic journey filled with hilarious adventures, emotional breakthroughs and spicy romances as they cultivate bonds and unapologetically live their best lives.”

‘Girls Cruise’ is produced for VH1 by Big Fish Entertainment for VH1. Lil’ Kim serves as an executive producer. Elena Diaz and Sitarah Pendelton serve as executive producers for VH1. Dan Cesareo, Lucilla D’Agostino, Anthony Sylvester, James Knox, Ashley McFarlin Buie and Shelley Sinha serve as executive producers for Big Fish Entertainment.

Ever wondered how the gorgeous ‘C’ of TLC always looks like the perfect package of perfection from head to toe? You’re about to find out!

Chilli spoke with Go 95.3‘s Auggie & Sophia on today’s show to reveal her tips on how she always looks so amazing, as well as what her favourite TLC song and what’s in store on the upcoming tour this summer.

You’ll have to wait and see! But I will put it to you this way — performing means everything to us. People wanna come out and see us, so we always make sure that we put on a high energy show for eveyone. So, you’re gonna get that.

Chilli’s Secrets To Looking Amazing

Obviously, what I do, and I tell people this all the time, yes working out is very important. If you don’t do it, you get stiff. So, I like to encourage people to do what works for them. I don’t like to jog, I’m not a jogger, but I can dance all day long! When jogging, I’ll be out of breath in like two seconds. If that’s something to a person, then do it.

Even on the days when you have to push yourself a little more, you’ll go ahead and do it. So, for me, I like to work out at home. All of my work outs consist of Beachbody DVD work outs and their programs. Because I’m very petite, so I can’t just do cardio, otherwise I’ll look invisible. I like to incorporate weights. But you gotta eat right.

Vegetarian and Flexitarian Lifestyle 

I am a vegetarian and an occasional pescatarian. Like, if I cook salmon for my son or my family, I’ll eat it. Occasionally, I’m a flexitarian (laughs). I love that. Other than that, it’s plant based. I try and stay away from gluten. I don’t have an issue with gluten things, but the gut doesn’t like it. I don’t drink the devil’s juice, at all. I don’t do drugs of any kind, I just never got into anything like that. And that makes a huge difference to ageing, it will definitely speed up the process. I drink a lot of alkaline water, 95% of the time. I try to get good sleep, and I don’t have the stress of a relationship!

Favourite TLC song

I really love “Hat 2 Da Back”. It’s my favourite song because the lyrics describe us to a T. And Lisa’s rap — it’s my favourite rap of hers! It’s so much fun, and the video is fun, I just love that song!

Chilli: “I Would Love TLC & Spice Girls To Tour Together!”

Chilli is up for reigniting some 90’s girl power with another top girl group from their era – the Spice Girls!

Speaking with Billboard to celebrate Live Nation’s National Concert Week, the ‘C’ of TLC reveals that she would love for her group to tour with the British girl band one day.

“I really would love to go on tour with The Spice Girls. I think TLC and the Spice Girls would be super epic,” Chilli says. “We’ve spoken to a couple of the girls but hopefully in the future that tour can happen.”

The ladies of TLC met up with Spice Girl Melanie C in 2018, when they both performed exclusively at the Mighty Hoopla festival in London.

Melanie C has previously worked with a TLC member in the past. She hired the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes to join her on the #1 smash, “Never Be The Same Again“, in 2000.

Both girl groups are busy on separate tours this year. While the Spice Girls have reunited for a UK tour with support act Jess Glynne, TLC have teamed up with Nelly & Flo Rida for a US summer tour.

The North American amphitheater tour is included in the more than 2,800 Live Nation shows being offered for $20 during the promoter’s National Concert Week.

TLC has been touring on and off since their first major trek, the FanMail tour in 1999.

“When we had our Fanmail tour we had Christina Aguilera and Destiny’s Child. It is all about the packages in my opinion,” says Chilli. “It makes it more of a fun time for the fans because they love many artists. If you have the right group together, it makes it super exciting.”

TLC’s Chilli and Weezer Don’t Want No Scrubs: Live at Coachella 2019

The wishes of the C of TLC have finally come true, in the form of a live collaboration!

Back in January, rock band Weezer dropped a teaser from their latest album of covers, ‘The Teal Album‘. On the project they decided to cover the TLC classic ‘No Scrubs‘ — and Chilli approved!

So much so, the gorgeous TLC member let it be known that she would like to perform the song with them one day!

Fast forward to April 13th and her hopes have now come to fruition. Weezer invited Chilli to join them live on stage during their set at the Coachella festival in Indio, California!

Chilli surprised fans when she performed the iconic ‘Fanmail‘ lead single effortlessly along with Weezer front man Rivers Cuomo, giving the song a new lease of life to an alternative audience.

Much like the famous introductions Chilli gives to the audience at TLC shows, educating young girls to avoid those scrubs when they start to drive, Rivers replicates the same sentiments during his anti-scrub speech. Our girls have taught him well.

Keeping in with the humor, he starts the song solo, acting surprised to hear a familiar female voice interject his vocals, whilst maintaining the suspense of Chilli’s guest feature.

The performance was a hit with the crowd, and Chilli later took to social media to thank the guys and hinted that they may be in attendance on the upcoming TLC summer tour!

In addition to ‘Scrubs’, Weezer also performed a barbershop quartet version of their own song, “Beverly Hills”, as well as fan favorites “Buddy Holly”, “Hash Pipe”, “El Scorcho”, and “Island in the Sun”.

Most diehard TLC fans will recall Weezer being one of TLC’s biggest competitions at the 1995 MTV Video Music Awards, where both groups were nominated for countless awards.

It’s a pleasure to see them working together. Let’s hope more connections and collabs will be formed with more of their peers from the 90’s and today!
