Members of K-Pop Girl Group XG Release Cover of TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’

K-Pop vocalists Hinata, Juria and Chisa of global girl group XG have shared a cover of TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’.

On June 25, XG released the fifth video of their ‘XG VOX’ series on YouTube, which features cover performances by the girl group’s vocalists. In the new clip, Hinata, Juria and Chisa each perform a solo cover before teaming up for their rendition of TLC’s 1999 smash hit, ‘No Scrubs’.

The girl group made a comeback in January 2023 with dual singles ‘Shooting Star’ and ‘Left Right’. In an interview with NME, rapper Cocona shared that “the concept behind ‘Shooting Star’ and ‘Left Right’ is to trust yourself and be what you want to be.”

Recent and upcoming group activities: XG recently made their U.S. live debut at 88rising’s Head in The Clouds festival in New York. They are slated to perform at the Head in the Clouds festival in Los Angeles this August. Additionally, XG has been included in the artist lineup for KCON LA‘s “ NICE TO MEET U” showcase stage on August 20.

So, who are XG? XG (acronym for Xtraordinary Girls) is a Japanese girl group based in South Korea. The group was formed by Xgalx, a subsidiary of Avex, and is composed of seven members: Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Juria, Cocona, Maya, and Harvey. They made their debut on March 18, 2022, with the release of the digital single “Tippy Toes”.

XG are gearing up for the release of their debut mini-album, ‘GRL GVNG‘ on June 30.

Watch: TLC Perform Medley of Hits with Lucy Love on ‘American Idol’

TLC were special guests on the 21st season of ‘American Idol‘ finale tonight (May 21) which aired on ABC.

T-Boz and Chilli took to the stage with contestant Lucy Love to perform a phenomenal live medley of their biggest hits. Chilli and T-Boz opened the performance carefully breaking down the lyrics of the smash, “No Scrubs“, to Lucy Love, before they collectively performed the anthem together.

The ladies seamlessly transitioned the performance to their first Billboard number one single, “Creep“, complete with horns and a live band.

With the audience roaring excitedly for more, including the judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and their friend Katy Perry, the ladies performed the anthem, “Waterfalls“, along with Lucy Love showcasing her vocal talents as they harmonized together.

Lucy Love made it into the top 12 and was hoping to earn her spot into the top 10. With a talent like that she is destined to have a very successful career in the music business.

The ‘American Idol’ appearance marked the first time TLC performed on the show since 2011, when they performed with Lil’ Jon and the top 13 girls that year.

Tonight’s performance served as a tour sampler for their upcoming North American “Hot Summer Nights” tour, which kicks off in June, along with Shaggy, En Vogue and Sean Kingston.

Tickets for the “Hot Summer Nights” tour are on sale now.

TLC Forever” premieres on Lifetime and A&E on June 3 at 7/8c.

TLC are Planning a Reality Show and a Fictional Musical Television Series

TLC are almost ready to launch their upcoming “Hot Summer Nights” tour next month along with Shaggy, En Vogue and Sean Kingston, which coincides with the premiere of their new documentary, “TLC Forever“, which airs simultaneously on both Lifetime and A&E on June 3 at 8/7c.

T-Boz and Chilli have been doing the promotional rounds this week to promote their show and tour. Whilst speaking to Entertainment Weekly, they announced that they have something brewing on Broadway, as well as a fictional series centered around their music and a pilot for an upcoming reality show in the works.

This will be the first time TLC have featured in a reality show together since 2005, when they starred in UPN’s “R U The Girl“, a reality contest show which followed T-Boz and Chilli on a nationwide road trip to find one special girl to perform and record a new song with them, called “I Bet“. The show also gave us lots of hilarious moments of the duo and the iconic chemistry that they have together.

Chilli went on to feature in her own reality show, VH1’s “What Chilli Wants“, in 2010 which ran for two seasons. She also starred in “Girls Cruise” in 2018 with Lil’ Kim and Mya. T-Boz starred in her own reality show, “Totally T-Boz” on the channel TLC in 2013.

According to EW, “TLC Forever” will document the group’s rise to stardom, the friction that they encountered and how T-Boz and Chilli were able to pick up the pieces after tragically losing the beloved Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in 2002. The show will also reveal the group in rehearsals as they prepared to perform at the 2022 Glastonbury Festival.

“You get to see our raw reaction,” says T-Boz, who captured several of the clips on a camcorder she carried around while TLC travelled the world throughout their 20s. “When I did that, I didn’t realize it would be worth so much to us later on. I’m real thankful we got that footage, all of the great times we had together. To be able to watch it so many years later is such a blessing.”

TLC believe that if they were new artists today in the age of streaming, their music would still be as relevant as it is now. “I don’t know about sales, but I know our music would stand the test of time,” says T-Boz. “I do believe if ‘No Scrubs’ or ‘Unpretty’ or ‘Creep’ came out tomorrow, they would be bumping on the radio just the same.”

The ladies are also very proud of the fact that despite their highs and lows, they never disbanded or replaced members. “No matter what happened, we never broke up,” says Chilli. “I mean, we’re gonna be in this group until we’re not here anymore. And the greatest thing of all is that we still want to do this together. I would not want to do this with any other person.”

TLC also had a fun interview with Xfinity, where amongst discussions about fashion trends and their growth, they reveal which Left Eye verse was their favorite and show the world they also have bars like their TLC sister.

“It was fun going back down memory lane, reminiscing about all the times that we’ve shared together, especially with Lisa”, says T-Boz. “And times that we haven’t forgotten, but they’re just not on your mind at that moment. So yeah, a lot of great memories”, adds Chilli.

T-Boz and Chilli unamously agree that the rap that they would sing if they switched roles for a day would be one of Left Eye’s raps in “Hat 2 Da Back“. After singing the verse together in perfect harmony, T-Boz exclaims, “yeah, we can rap too!” Despite the iconic status of their records, TLC insist that they do not listen to their own music when they’re not at work.

“We don’t even bump it in the car at home”, reveals T-Boz. “We practice [for concerts] 6 to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week — that’s a lot”. Chilli agrees, adding, “In rehearsals, we practice 8 hours a day, it’s a real job, listening to her voice, my voice — play something else, please!”

Tickets to TLC’s “Hot Summer Nights” tour are on sale now!

Tune in to watch “TLC Forever” on Lifetime/A&E on June 3 at 7/8c

Left Eye’s Family Host Silent Auction and Announce Release Date For Lisa’s ‘Supernova’ Solo Album

Reigndrop Lopes decided to celebrate the 51st birthday of her sister Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes on May 27 with a live Silent Auction, where fans were offered the opportunity to bid on a number of one-of-a-kind Left Eye items.

Exclusive items that you have the chance to own in the auction include a stunning custom Left Eye rug, custom and bespoke Left Eye sneakers, a back pack with Lisa’s items inside, a custom Left Eye hoodie, a Supernova LED music box, glow in the dark Left Eye candle set, dinner with the Lopes family and the chance to attend the Red Carpet private screening of the new Left Eye documentary produced by the Lopes family!

During the event Reigndrop was joined on stage by her brother Ron Lopes and Cemetery Tim, who created the new headstone for Lisa. Reigndrop also met Marqueze Ethridge for the first time and she was delighted to be informed that he co-wrote the TLC classic, “Waterfalls“.

Reigndrop hosted the event via Facebook and Instagram simultaneously whilst she jammed to a selection of TLC’s biggest hits, and was notably unimpressed at the album version of “No Scrubs” being played without Lisa’s iconic rap verse. The Facebook live stream became problematic with the use of copyrighted music being played, so Reigndrop switched it to music from Left Eye’s ‘Supernova‘ and happily told Facebook she owns this music, so they can’t shut her live feed down for using it.

Fans were delighted to learn that the ‘Supernova‘ album was on the verge of receiving it’s full worldwide release on streaming platforms after continuous demand from the fans. As we know, Lisa’s debut solo album received a limited release in Japan and the UK and was scrapped from receiving a US release.

“We’re working to release ‘Supernova’ to streaming on the date that she originally wanted her album to be released”, Reigndrop announced. “And if you’re a real fan you already know what the date is, so I don’t have to say it”. Although she added that “plans can change”, she was adamant that,”That date meant something to Lisa, so we’re going to stick to that”.

Of course, the date Reigndrop was referring to was August 16th, which was the original date Lisa wanted her album to be released in 2001. Lisa was drawn to this date in particular for a special reason. “My father died on August 16th and his father was born on August 16th”, Lisa explained to MTV News. “And then on January 31st, was the day that [my father] was born and [his father] died. So, they came in and out of each others dates. It’s a very significant release date”.

Reigndrop was also excited to reveal that she is producing a brand new Left Eye documentary.

Energy Never Dies… Happy Birthday Lisa!

The Silent Auction will be live until June 3, 2022. Visit www.Lefteye20th.betterworld.org to place your bids and own a piece of Left Eye history!
