About the show:

Atlanta has become a hotbed for hip-hop music, and it is the setting for this reality series that explores what life is like for a tight-knit crew of friends, many of whom have family members who are well-known in the hip-hop community.

Shad Moss — better known as Bow Wow — returns to Atlanta to release his first album in several years, which he intends to make his swan song before bowing out of the industry so he can focus on raising his child and dealing with other personal issues.

Mentoring him are surrogate fathers Snoop Dogg and Jermaine Dupri. Hoping to step out of their parents’ famous shadows are members of Bow Wow’s ATL crew, including Dupri’s daughter Shaniah Mauldin; and Ayana Fite, the daughter of Beastie Boys mainstay DJ Hurricane and Barnes’ cousin.

Classic TLC Hit Features on Captain Marvel Soundtrack

InShot_20190316_022200035.jpg

One of the best achievements of Marvel’s ’90s-set Captain Marvel is the film’s ability to tap into that zeitgeist of the the decade without making it feel like frivolous nostalgia.

The first title film for a female superhero in the MCU succeeds in capturing an era when acts like Garbage and TLC and No Doubt were challenging the testosterone-heavy dominant sound of the early decade.

Captain Marvel makes use of one of TLC’s biggest hits, “Waterfalls.” This 1995 single was a perfect storm of radio-friendly grooves under poetic and timely lyrics highlighting the AIDS crisis, gang violence, and drug addiction.

It was particularly bolstered by its million-dollar music video directed by filmmaker F. Gary Gray, which visualized the song’s dramatic themes and had the group transform into literal waterfalls via some then-cutting-edge Terminator 2-style CGI.

Captain Marvel features far more advanced visual effects and less real-world drama, but its use of the song as Carol Danvers and Nick Fury drive into the desert toward danger feels nonetheless appropriate.

Captain Marvel is the first Marvel film in which the soundtrack serves more of a thematic purpose. It’s also worth telling that this was the first Marvel movie to be scored by a female composer.

These are the songs featured in Captain Marvel:

“Crazy on You” – Heart

“Kiss Me Deadly” – Lita Ford

“Whatta Man” – Salt-N-Pepa featuring En Vogue

“Connection” – Elastica

“Only Happy When It Rains” – Garbage

“Crush With Eyeliner” – REM

“Waterfalls” – TLC

“You Gotta Be” – Des’ree

“Come As You Are” – Nirvana

“Just A Girl” – No Doubt

“Man on the Moon” – REM

“Celebrity Skin” – Hole

“I’m personally working on some TV stuff [‘Girls Crew‘, ‘Fix My Plate‘], and us, TLC, collectively we are”, Chilli says, “and, we are working on the TLC musical and TLC on Broadway. So, we’re going to create new music for those projects as well.”

Chilli also clarifies that the musical will touch on some of the many untold stories that weren’t covered in the VH1 biopic, ‘CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story‘ in 2013.

“We didn’t tell everything. I mean, we have so many stories to tell that we didn’t tell in our biopic on VH1. But it’s a lot of stuff, a lot of good stuff”, Chilli says.

“It’s going to be very emotional, but like a good ride. I’m very excited about it. I almost can’t believe it!”

Mariah Carey recently dropped the glossy music video to her latest single “A No No“, lifted from her latest album, the critically acclaimed ‘Caution‘, and followed up the release with a brand new remix!

After months of a rumoured remix with hip-hop rappers Cardi B & Lil’ Kim (whose 1996 hit “Crush On You” is heavily sampled on the single), Mariah decided to roll with the super talented British rapper Stefflon Don!

Stefflon Don rhymes effortlessly over the classic beat in her British-Jamaican accent, even dropping a shout out to the legendary Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes!

“I ain’t with the “he say, she say” / get the strap out / Bloodclart dem a try / Burn down your house like Lisa “Left Eye” / Ain’t no nigga left, aye / It’s plain and simple, they addicted to me”, Stefflon Don raps on the track.

Producer Jermaine Dupri claims he sent Lil’ Kim the track after she reached out to him to be included on the remix. However, the final decision lay in the hands of Epic Records.
