TLC Announce ‘Celebration of CrazySexyCool’ 2021 Tour With Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

It’s been a crazy couple of years for us all, with countless months of uncertainty due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, which forced us to slow down and practice a more sedentary lifestyle, free from crowds and become more conscious about social distancing.

One thing that suffered most was the live touring industry. However, the end of extreme social isolation is finally drawing closer to becoming a reality!

Today (June 23), TLC revealed that they intend to return to the stage later this year, with the announcement of the ‘Celebration of CrazySexyCool Tour‘, kicking off on September 3, 2021 in Albertville, AL at the Sand Mountain Amphitheater!

The ladies will be joined by special guests, the legendary rap group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony on the tour, adding their unique blend of harmonious hip-hop to the live shows to open for TLC on the 18 dates of the tour. Additional dates will be announced in due course.

Chilli states, “I’m so excited for this tour because we’ve been talking about doing something special for ‘CrazySexyCool’ for years and FINALLY, we get to do it! This is the album that truly put us on the map and showed the world who we really are. So, this will be quite the celebration!”

CrazySexyCool‘ is TLC’s second studio album that featured the #1 singles “Waterfalls” and “Creep” and received a Diamond certification from the RIAA.

With over 85 million records sold worldwide, TLC is not only the best-selling American girl group of all time; with 4 Grammy Awards, 4 multi-platinum albums (two of which went Diamond), four number one singles and ten Top 10 singles, theirs is an influence – across pop, hip-hop, R&B, fashion and female empowerment – which defines generations.

In 2017, TLC released their self-titled album, their first in over fifteen years which hit #1 on Billboard’s Independent Album Chart. It funded exclusively by the fans via the crowd funding site, Kickstarter.

A two-hour documentary special “Biography: TLC” will premiere on A&E in 2022. The special will chronicle the group’s powerful, emotional journey and their survival against all odds as T-Boz and Chilli tell their story for the first time in a feature documentary. The special will be directed by Matt Kay.

TLC is represented by Lucia Media Group.

Left Eye’s New Headstone to be Laid During 50th Birthday week, Update on ‘Supernova’ Album, Hologram and Biopic TV Series

Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes would have celebrated her 50th birthday this week (May 27). Her sister, Reigndrop Lopes, took a moment to touch base with the fans to celebrate Lisa’s milestone birthday!

Just like she did last year for the first time, Reigndrop again decided to celebrate via simultaneous live streams on Instagram and Facebook, where she both offered Q&A sessions with fans and did some trivia questions for fans to win items with Left Eye on it.

Reigndrop revealed that the new one-of-a-kind, 3D-textured headstone, created by Tim Morris aka Tim Cemetery which was announced in 2019, will finally be installed at Lisa’s gravesite at Hillandale Memorial Gardens in Stonecrest, Georgia on May 29.

“The next time you visit the gravesite you will see the new headstone”, Reigndrop announced to the fans. “We are laying it on the 29th”. Tim Cemetery also posted a cryptic message via Facebook on Lisa’s birthday, stating that he was on his way!

Future Left Eye music plans

“The music that we have left from Lisa, I’m probably going to use it for one of her film and book projects, and I’ll probably release a couple more. But I don’t like messing with and changing Lisa’s music as far as remixing it. I don’t like doing that, because she puts so much of her into the songs on “Supernova”, I kinda just want to leave them alone and use them like that. But, I may do a poetry book with her lyrics.”

“Of course [I would], any time! It would just have to be the right opportunity. I would do that in a heartbeat!”

Book plans

“I’m working on Lisa’s book. I’m actually working on two books. One book is a memory book, with people’s memories of Lisa. And one is her biography.”

Biopic TV series

“I’m working on her film which I actually want to be a series. It’s more fitting, because you can’t really fit someone’s entire life story in a 2-hour movie. It’s just not possible. I’ve always thought that, so I want it to be a series. I do not have a release date for it yet, as I am still working with the writer. When I get to the point where I think it’s ready to come out I will let the fans know first. I think I’ll do a documentary with lots of footage and then a series about her life”.

“Supernova” release on streaming platforms

“My family own Lisa’s masters, so you don’t have to go to anyone else to ask them to put it out on streaming. We’re working on it, we’re working on a lot of other stuff, so just be patient. Timing is everything, it’s going to come out when it’s supposed to come out. Just know that your voices are being heard and we’re working on it. A lot of things are happening at the same time which is overwhelming, so we have to pace it out. But it will be out, I promise”.

First time meeting T-Boz and Chilli

That was so long ago! I don’t really remember because when TLC first came out I wasn’t aware of how big the group was, I just saw them as my sisters friends, until TLC became more established I realised how big they were. But yeah, they were like my big sisters. They will always be family”.

Left Eye Hologram

“I’m okay with it but how do you guys feel about a Left Eye hologram? I think it would be dope! I’m definitely for it.”

TLC Release Limited Edition “Waterfalls” Picture Vinyl For Record Store Day 2020

To celebrate Record Store Day this year, TLC have released a limited edition picture disc vinyl of their iconic single, 1995’s “Waterfalls“, to celebrate 25 years of the success of their diamond-selling album, ‘CrazySexyCool‘.

Traditionally on Record Store Day, local independent record stores are given exclusive and often limited releases to be sold only in stores, as a bid to help with the survival of the record stores, which have taken a huge blow in sales due to the growing popularity of digital downloads and streaming platforms such as Spotify, Tidal and Apple Music.

Thankfully, vinyls have seen a resurgence in recent years, with music fans wanting their favourite music to be made available on the classic vinyl formats, leading to an increase in vinyl sales.

Record Store Day 2020 was initially set to go ahead back in June, but due to the unfortunate coronavirus outbreak it was postponed and some of the releases appeared to have been cancelled or heavily limited by some of the record labels, including the TLC release.

Other upcoming releases include Coolio‘s ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’, Destiny’s Child “Say My Name” picture disc and Britney Spears‘ sophomore album, ‘Oops… I Did It Again’ on picture disc.

This year’s Record Store Day will be taking place a little differently with products being split across 3 new dates: 29th August, 26th September and 24th October in the UK.

TLC’s “Waterfalls” release takes place from September 26th with limited availability in selected stores. To avoid disappointment, please check with your local record stores to find out if they will be stocking the record at that particular store before attending.

You can check for participating stores in the UK here. To check for participating stores in the US check here. For the rest of the world, go here and select your country to find participating stores.

UPDATE (26/9) — The Record Store Day team have sadly informed us that the TLC release will no longer be released on the scheduled date. They will inform fans via social media when they obtain a new release date from the label.

However, some record stores in Mexico have already been stocking the record in their stores, so if you’re in luck, contact some stores using the store locater in other countries to directly speak to the stores to get your copies if you cannot wait for a domestic release in your country!

Happy hunting, and stay safe!
